The distinguished professorship, 'Digital Society and Online Engagement', of Prof Dr Marten Risius (http://www.martenrisius.de/) is seeking ambitious doctoral students for the research area 'Social Media Trust & Safety'.
The Faculty of Information Management is thus seeking to fill the following position at the earliest possible date:
Research assistant (f/m/d) in the field of ‘Social Media Trust & Safety’, full-time (100%), remuneration according to pay grade TV-L E13
The successful candidate will work in the area 'AI-driven Hate Speech Detection'. The doctoral program in Information Systems is open to interdisciplinary applicants. The supervision occurs in collaboration with (inter)national experts and offers the opportunity for international research stays and conference visits.
The professorship works on trust and safety issues, including shadowbanning, online extremism, fake news campaigns and hate speech. We work with leading researchers at Stanford Internet Observatory, The University of Queensland, Bocconi University Milan, the University of Colorado Boulder, and Hong Kong Baptist University among others. The team is funded by the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda.

Your profile
• You have a university degree that qualifies you for a doctorate.

• You possess comprehensive knowledge in at least one of the following areas: computer science, information systems, data science, human-computer interaction, cognitive sciences, or a related field.
• You demonstrate exemplary proficiency in the Python programming language and a solid grasp of advanced learning packages such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
This position is specifically designed for individuals pursuing a doctorate. The initial fixed term is typically one year, during which time candidates identify a doctoral topic. Should they require additional time, an extension of the contract will be sought within the framework of the agreed qualification project (doctorate or other qualification goal, see appendix Guidelines according to WissZeitVG - Free State of Bavaria).

Remuneration is based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement on Pay (TV-L).
