The Faculty of Information Management is thus seeking to fill several of the following positions at the earliest possible date:

Research assistant (f/m/d) in the field of ‘Social Media Trust & Safety’, full-time (100%), remuneration according to pay grade TV-L E13

The successful candidate will work in the areas of „Digital Vigilantism“, “Information Warfare“, or “Attitude Innoculation through Future-Orientedness“. The doctoral program in Information Systems is open to interdisciplinary applicants. The supervision occurs in collaboration with (inter)national experts and offers the opportunity for international research stays and conference visits.

The professorship works on trust and safety issues, including shadowbanning, online extremism, fake news campaigns and hate speech. We work with leading researchers at Stanford Internet Observatory, the University of Colorado Boulder, Hong Kong Baptist University and The University of Queensland, among others. The team is funded by the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda..

Your profile
• You have a university degree that qualifies you for a doctorate.

• You possess a solid understanding in at least one of the following social or human sciences, such as business informatics, business administration, computer sciences, data sciences, cognitive sciences, sociology, psychology, media studies, political science or economics, or a related field.
• You have comprehensive knowledge in statistics and a solid grasp of at least one of the areas of experimental design, social media analyses, observational studies, surveys, ethnography.

This position is specifically designed for individuals pursuing a doctorate. The initial fixed term is typically one year, during which time candidates identify a doctoral topic. Should they require additional time, an extension of the contract will be sought within the framework of the agreed qualification project (doctorate or other qualification goal, see appendix Guidelines according to WissZeitVG - Free State of Bavaria).

Remuneration is based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement on Pay (TV-L).
